Friday, November 9, 2012 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM (EST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
As the second part of Drexel Green & Drexel Sierra Club's Green Speaker Series, we are hosting Erin Schrode, Co-Founder of Teens Turning Green. As the “face of the new green generation,” the co-founder and spokeswoman of Teens Turning Green promotes global sustainability, youth leadership, environmental education, and conscious lifestyle choices. A “sustainability prodigy” and eco expert, Erin has been featured in the NY Times, Vanity Fair, San Francisco Chronicle, New York Post, Seventeen Magazine, Teen Vogue, National Geographic, ABC, NBC, BBC, CNN, FOX, MTV, E!, AOL, GOOD, Slate, and other multimedia outlets.
If youth represent the future, we need to lead the charge for positive, collaborative change... and young people are stepping up all around the world to do just that! This vocal, digitally-connected generation is embracing active citizenry and more just, sustainable options when given the choice. Erin will speak about all things environmental conscious and socially responsible as it relates to choices for individuals, schools, and communities. She will share about the initiatives and platforms of her non-profit, Teens Turning Green, which has grown from Erin's kitchen table in 2005 to a global movement around education and advocacy today, as well as her work with public and private sector partners to activate youth and shift the global paradigm.
Stop by Mario the Dragon afterwards to talk to Erin some more and learn about efforts to encourage Drexel University to participate in STARS, a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to gauge relative progress toward sustainability.
