Event description

Description

Students, like the rest of us, are very much affected by what's happening in their lives and how they feel about their workplace; their receptivity and performance depend upon how their schools and classrooms make them feel. The research is very clear: Students need opportunities in their academic classrooms to develop the skills, habits, and dispositions that are excellent predictors of success in school, college, and life.

Join the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA), a division of Educational Testing Service (ETS), for the second in a series of equity-focused discussions, as we look at what schools and school districts are doing to ensure that all students, particularly those that are traditionally underserved, are prepared academically and emotionally for the world after high school. This preparation includes the typical knowledge that young people take with them from high school, such as from their mathematics and literacy classes, and also includes the social and emotional competencies, such as self-management or thoughtful decision-making, that will make them ready for any post-secondary pathway.
