Intended Audience: Building and District Teams are encouraged to attend ( K-12 Classroom and Content Teachers, ELL/ENL/Bilingual Directors and Teachers, PPS Staff, District and Building Administrators)
This workshop will take a close look at teaching for English language learners (ELLs) by all teachers. It will specifically focus on the new Part 154 regulations, the New York State Blueprint, and content-based instruction. The issues of equity as they pertain to our ELL learners and their families will also be addressed. Participants will examine essential frameworks for English as a New Language (ENL), and innovative approaches to integrated instruction that benefit all students.
- explore the implications of changes in the Part 154 regulations for the education ELL learners
- explore the implications of the New York State Blueprint for ELL learners
- consider strategies and policies to achieve equity for ELL learners, particularly collaborative strategies and co-teaching models
- offer content-based strategies for teachers across programs who are collaboratively working with ELL learners
