Equipping Social Workers With Technology To Innovate Human Service Delivery
Come and meet Marquis Cabrera, the Founder and CEO of Foster Skills, a social enterprise supported by Microsoft, AOL, State Farm, and the Case Foundation that developed the innovative, RateMyFosterHome.Com, intended to help state governments improve the child welfare system. Marquis is currently a Voqal Fellow, who is working to innovate the child welfare system insomuch that more vulnerable children and families beat the odds. He is the youngest to win Massachusetts Innovator of the Year (Boston Globe) and Massachusetts Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year (MNN). Earlier in his career, he worked at City Year, Massachusetts Appeals and Supreme Courts, and The White House. He recently did a TEDx Talk entitled “How to Build A Successful Social Enterprise” at Teachers College, which received 30,000+ views.
Come participate in a discussion about RateMyFosterHome.Com, wherein you can bring ideas and feedback to help improve the platform. Participants will be eligible to receive a Starbucks gift card! This will be an amazing opportunity to interface with a young social entrepreneur, to hone and add your value as a social worker. Marquis is eager to hear feedback from Columbia students, and share his life’s experience and entrepreneurial advice with participants. Food Will Be Served! Sign up now, as space is limited! This event is open to current CSSW students from all tracks!!
