Equestrian Coaching Edge™

The purpose of Equestrian Coaching Edge™ (ECE) is to build a community where equestrian riders gather and learn together in order to achieve personal horsemanship goals. This innovative and affordable program is designed to create new possibilities in horsemanship achievement across multiple disciplines by offering similarly-skilled riders unique cooperative learning opportunities. Each session delivers specific curriculum, and features personalized coaching and peer-to-peer activities in an environment that fosters confidence, safety, mastery, enjoyment, fellowship, and celebration.

DISCOUNT MULTI-SESSION PACKAGES
Multiple-session discount packages are now available to any participant interested attending three or more sessions, over a six-month period. These packages are designed to offer up to 25% in savings when purchased in advance. Certain restrictions apply.

Spring 2017 Discount Package

A discount is beoing offered to any participants who sign up for all three of the Equestrian Coaching Edge sessions scheduled for Spring 2017. The sessions included in this package are:

6 Sessions = $270.00* (17.5% Discount)

Multiple-Session Discount Package Requirements & Restrictions:
Discount packages must be purchased in advance to receive the discount rate for each session Redemption codes will be provided to participants in order to enroll in specific group session dates; participant must inform Happy Hoof Beats in advance of the sessions they will enroll in, in order to activate the discount code for those group sessions Redemption codes are valid for six-months from date of purchase, at which time they expire Only one discount code may be used per participant per group session date; redemption codes are non-transferable and may only be used by the participant who purchased them, or if purchased on behalf of another participant may only be used by that participant Discount packages purchased on the behalf of other participants, may be assigned to only one person and may not be broken up into smaller packages, or redeemed by more than one person—all multiple-session requirements apply to recipients of these packages purchased on their behalf

Barbara H. Callihan is a third generation equestrian coach and trainer, and a fourth generation Nevadan. As a devoted equestrian professional for more than 60 years, her business office has been managed from a saddle whether in the arena, in corrals, on desert trails or mountain adventures, or while earning state, regional and national awards and recognition in numerous competitive disciplines. Barbara’s diverse skills and experience, her commitment to horsemanship excellence, and her ‘safety-first’ philosophy deliver unmatched knowledge, leadership, and insight in order to meet your scholarship needs.

Since 2009 Barbara has been an active competitor and judge in emerging competitive trail disciplines including ACTHA, Equine Trail Sport (ETS), and International Mountain Trail Challenges (IMTCA). In 2014 Barbara and her horse Chunky Monkey successfully completed a full year of ACHTA competition and earned the title Nevada State Champion and finished the year as a National Top Five competitor. In 2015 she completed certification as an ETS judge and currently judges and competes in ETS events in Southern Nevada. In the summer of 2016 she studied under IMTCA founder Mark Bolender and completed her certification as an IMTCA judge and is currently working to introduce IMTCA to Southern Nevada.

Alternate Payment Methods
If you do not have a credit card or ATM card, or you would prefer to pay by cash or check, contact Barbara H. Callihan at 702-327-2272 or email at events@happyhoofeats.com. Payments must be received five days before each scheduled session to reserve your spot. Cancellations and Credits Registrants who cannot attend sessions for which they are registered into are required to give 48 hours notice of their inability to attend, in order for their fees to be credited towards a future session—refunds will not be issued for any reason. Registrants who do not give 48 hours notice that they cannot attend will not receive a refund, nor will they receive credit for future group instructions. Special considerations are made for family and horse emergencies.

Requirements, Restrictions, and Recommendations

  • Participants on horseback must be at least 13 years of age, or receive pre approval from Happy hoofbeats.
  • Both English and Western tack are appropriate
  • Snaffle bits or snaffle-sided bits are recommended
  • Usage of splint boots or other protective boots are encouraged to prevent injuries to horse’s legs
  • All riders will wear riding boots with heels—no tennis shoes or open toes shoes will be allowed
  • No stallions ridden by riders under the age of 18
  • All riders, all ages must wear an ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet
  • Please arrive early to allow 45 minutes to hour hour for warm up riding and/or lunging
  • Participants on horseback, auditors, and guests are prohibited from taking photos and/or video of any kind, including smartphone video, during coaching sessions
  • Participants on horseback, auditors, and guests may take photos and/or video during warm up before the session and after the completion of coaching sessions

Age Requirement for Participants on Horseback
Riders on horseback must be at least 13 years of age. Exceptions are considered for special circumstances. Send an email to events@happyhoofbeats.com to make your request and include the following information: Contact name and phone number, child’s name, child’s age, years and type of equestrian riding experience, awards/winnings, other reasons to consider an exception.

Liability Release
All riders are required to sign and turn in a notarized liability release. The liability release can be downloaded from Happy Hoof Beats website. Completed releases can be emailed to events@happyhoofbeats.com as a scanned PDF, or turned in immediately upon arrival for the session.

Photography and Video Release
All participants on horseback are required to sign a release allowing Happy Hoof Beats to use any photographs and video taken during coaching sessions for business purposes, including the selling and/or renting of videos online. The Photography and Video Release can be downloaded from Happy Hoof Beats website. Completed releases can be emailed to events@happyhoofbeats.com or turned in immediately upon arrival for the session.

Photograph and Video Policy
Participants on horseback, auditors, and guests are prohibited from taking photographs and/or video of any kind, including with a smartphone, during coaching sessions. Participants on horseback, auditors, and guests make take video during warm up and after the completion of coaching sessions. Happy Hoof Beats will take video of all sessions, which will be edited and made available to participants on horseback and auditors for an additional fee. Online access to session videos is offered on an a la carte basis to keep the registration fees affordable.

Weather and Cancellations
Happy Hoof Beat reserves the right to cancel and reschedule Equestrian Coaching Edge sessions in case of inclement weather, including rain, thunderstorms, and/or high winds. When possible registrants will be given a 24 hours notice of cancellation—although it's not likely, cancellation might occur on the day of the session.
