Born and raised near Washington DC, Summer grew up in church and began singing solos as a young child. During her first solo at age seven, Summer recognized the incredible impact her special gift of song has on people, when she witnessed an audience moved to tears by her performance. Singing became an outlet for Summer to share her soul, and inspire listeners. Her childhood experiences in music ministry sparked an aspiration to be a “singing missionary” and to this day she still finds joy in leading others into the presence of God. Summer has been deeply inspired by Gospel and Contemporary Christian greats such as CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, and Jonathan McReynolds; and pop and folk artists like Whitney Houston, Eva Cassidy, and Celine Dion.
Summer achieved tremendous success in school and career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Math and Japanese from Emory University in Atlanta,GA and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia. She went on to have a fruitful career with the federal government as an attorney, but even then, her dedication to music ministry never waned.
In 2013, Summer responded to a call to pursue music and inspirational speaking full-time. She is more fulfilled than she has ever been. Currently serving as Praise and Worship Director and Youth Ministries Director at two churches in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Summer is able to utilize her passions for both music ministry and children on a weekly basis. She regularly accepts invitations to sing, act, and/or speak at corporate events, weddings, church programs, funerals, and other special events.
Summer has been featured on several recording projects, including: the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) Exalting Him Finalists; Sam Roberts & Ministry; Grace; and Emory University's Gospel Choir. She has opened up for amazing gospel greats, such as Daryl Coley, Jason Nelson, and Tamela Mann. Summer has also been blessed to perform for elected officials and notables, such as General Colin Powell, Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Jane Seymour, Honorable John Lewis, Prince George’s, MD County Executive Rushern Baker, and Bill Marriott.
