Workshop Topics

  1. Defining “epiphany”—and the problem. The end goal is to learn how to think differently, so you can have epiphanies, but the initial vehicle for experiencing epiphany is defining a problem that you want to think about and solve. A discussion will ensue regarding the methodology of epiphany and thought process.
  2. What you need to know. A data-assessment is conducted to figure out what you already have in your memory that pertains to the problem. Some learning will be necessary to provide enough information for the epiphany. You will also engage in an assessment of how you can prepare your brain for epiphany in terms of quantity and quality of sleep, nutrition, exercise, hydration, and stimulation.
  3. Non-thought. Non-thought is when your brain is active but not focused on anything in particular. It’s when you give yourself the mental space to have ideas. You will be encouraged to do this on a regular basis. You will be encouraged to write down and review your ideas as you engage in non-thought—especially if they pertain to your defined problem. You will continue to engage in non-thought as you track your ideas in writing.
  4. Epiphanies and next steps. The group will discuss the ideas that were generated as a result of the epiphany process. There is no pressure, or expectation, to have a “big realization,” though it is always interesting to see what happens when a group of people set out to have epiphanies. Continuing to engage in this methodology enables you to continue to have more “realizations of scale."
