EPHEMERA chooses to see the beauty in temporality as we consider this fragile–yet precious–moment in our history on this planet. Through a mostly a cappella repertoire, the program highlights the ephemeral nature of the human voice to awaken our capacity for self-reflection and societal change. Musical works explore immediate threats to our climate, the magical tenacity of nature, and the restorative power within fleeting moments.

Program highlights include

• the West Coast Premiere of Saunder Choi’s “Crown of Flames;”
• the first live performance of two works from Divya Maus’s “Rain Cycle;”
• a performance of Eric Whitacre’s “Cloudburst;”
• a debut arrangement by Dave Stal of “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish; and
• an ensemble of 22 exceptional vocalists conducted by Choral Lab Members Baraka May, Rob Dietz, and Saunder Choi.
