Environmental Issues Encountered in Demolition


This program will familiarize LSRPs and environmental professionals to the latest procedures and regulations for managing a demolition project in the State of New Jersey. The course will cover proper permitting procedures under the jurisdiction of both State and Local government offices. The program will also focus on implementation of OSHA personnel safety and demolition equipment safety procedures, implementation of newly enforced silica airborne standards in workplace, waste management evaluation and disposal alternatives as well as building structure evaluation and engineering survey procedures.

Pre-Demolition Procedures

  • Development of a Demolition Plan
  • Performing an Engineering Survey
  • Performing a Safety Inspection/Survey
  • When Do You Incorporate a Structural Engineer

Permitting Requirements

  • Review Steps and Procedures to Submit Permit To Local Municipality
  • Review Actual Site Tasks in Preparation of Permit Filing
  • Discuss Differences in Permit Requirements between Municipalities
  • When a Soil Conservation Permit is Required

Utility Awareness and Shut-Offs

  • Review All Possible Utility Company Disconnect Procedures

Continuing Professional Education Services, LLC (CPES), the product of PB&J Continuing Professional Education Services, LLC and has the mission of providing continuing education courses to professionals as well as lectures and special events to the professional community. CPES will be offering courses that provide required credits for Licensed Site Remediation Professionals, attorneys, professional engineers and many other professionals certified and/or licensed in the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania to name a few.

Continuing Professional Education Services, LLC is the brain child of Dr. Jorge H. Berkowitz and Philip I. Brilliant. From the inception of the Continuing Environmental Education for Professional (CEEP) program at the College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM) at Montclair State University, Dr. Berkowitz and Mr. Brilliant have been in the classroom and in the boardroom assuring the success of the program. In order to better serve the community of professionals, Dr. Berkowitz and Mr. Brilliant stepped forward with a solution that has saved the ability to offer continuing education credit-bearing courses.
