Event description

Description

Topic: Climate Action! Emphasis on action.

Speakers:

(more to be added)

  • Vanessa Perkins - Vanessa is a fellow with Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) designing a community electric vehicle (EV) charging program for urban residential neighborhoods of Chicago. Leveraging existing infrastructure, the sharing economy, and several innovative tech solutions, a community charging program could accelerate the usage of EVs as well as enable grid management and renewable energy storage.
  • Rebecca Ratliff - Rebecca is a member of Citizens' Climate Lobby. A non-profit, non-partisan grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. We work to educate the public on these policies across all geographic regions and political inclinations in order to build the political will to enact them. Members of the Chicago Northside chapter will be presenting information on the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, why carbon fee and dividend is the best first step for solving the climate crisis, and how you can support this legislation. If you ever feel hopeless or worry there's no solution that fits the scale of the problem, this is one talk you won't want to miss.
  • Kevin Borgia, Midwest Policy Director at Cypress Creek Renewables. Cypress Creek Renewables has successfully developed 93 megawatts of solar projects in Minnesota, Missouri and Indiana.
