Event description

Description

A successful entrepreneur and community leader in her own right, Shelley has for over 30 years guided business people, professionals and leaders of all kinds through training, seminars, and individual and corporate consultation.

“I have come to believe that the way we mentor, lead and love is all reflected in the way we talk... to ourselves and to others.” Shelley says, adding, “Connecting authentically, facilitating transparently, and empowering people to realize their potential is my passion.” That conviction led Shelley to write her books Integrity-Based Communications (2004, 2013) and to develop a leadership program based on the same values and principles.

Shelley has designed materials and conducted workshops for all levels of employees, emphasizing personal analysis and skill development. Clients include small business owners, Fortune 100 companies, hospitals, universities and non-profit organizations. Formerly a VP-Communications in corporate America, today Shelley works with emerging leaders, business professionals, entrepreneurs, and educators who want to communicate more confidently and deliver their expertise more clearly, face to face and online.

Shelley is a graduate of the University of Memphis (B.A., psychology), Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioner, Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator, Distinguished Toastmaster, founding member and past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners-Memphis chapter. A graduate and former board program chair for Leadership Memphis, she and her husband, John, were founding facilitators for Common Ground: Conversations on Race, Communities in Action.

Shelley has been honored by Memphis Woman magazine as one of “Fifty Women Who make a Difference,” Athena Award recipient as a role model for mentoring and community leadership, IRIS Award winner for encouraging women entrepreneurs, and Leadership Memphis Distinguished Alumnus Award.

As a leader for Greater Memphis BNI and regional trainer/mentor for BNI Mid-South, Shelley also serves as board member/program chair for the Association for Talent Development-Memphis; Commissioner, Minority Business Development Oversight Commission for the City of Memphis, and now in her 20th year as a mentor-coach for University of Memphis students pursuing their own passion.

Please join us at the Society of Entrepreneurs Roundtable on May 3, when entrepreneur and author Shelley Baur shares “Reflections on Integrity-Based Communications.”
