Angel Investor; Managing Director, Golden Seeds

"Carol is currently a Managing Director with Golden Seeds, an investment firm that pursues above market returns through the empowerment of women entrepreneurs and the people who invest in them. Carol has responsibility for the Golden Seeds Knowledge Institute, which houses their investor training activities. In addition, Carol is President of The Charian Group, LLC, a company formed to provide consulting services to financial intermediaries, non-profit organizations and early-stage companies with an emphasis on women-led or focused organizations.

Prior to forming The Charian Group, Carol was Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Westwood Management Corporation, a registered investment advisor. Carol has held senior investment banking positions with Berkshire Capital Corporation, Prudential-Bache Capital Funding, and Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. Inc. Carol has served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance in the Graduate School of Management at The University of Dallas in Texas and at the Lubin Graduate School of Business at Pace University in NY.

Carol currently serves as a mentor to the Pipeline Fellowship, which trains women philanthropists to become angel investors and TechLaunch NJ, a NJ-based incubator. Carol has served on the New York Advisory Board of Astia, a global non-profit organization focused on accelerating access to capital by women entrepreneurs; Investors’ Circle, a network of socially-responsible private investors; The Dallas Women’s Foundation, an organization established to promote economic self-sufficiency for women and girls in the greater Dallas area; and The Women’s Opportunity Fund, a non-profit micro-lending enterprise.
