Mr. Shay will be speaking on:

"The Mortgage Mess and the Great Recession— a Perspective from Scriptural and Talmudic Texts"

Scott A. Shay is a founder of Signature Bank and has served as Chairman of the Board of

Directors since its inception. Signature Bank has grown to $15 billion in assets since its

founding 11 years ago and is the top performing bank in the U. S. in shareholder return since

its IPO. Since 1980 Mr. Shay has been involved in the investment banking and venture capi-

tal industries. He has served as Managing Director of Ranieri Partners and its predecessors

since 1988.


Mr. Shay is also actively involved in Jewish formal and informal education serving on a number

of boards and having been a founder of two Jewish not-for-profit organizations. He is the author of  "Getting Our Groove Back: How to Energize American Jewry"

((Devora, 2008).


Mr. Shay received a BA degree in economics from Northwestern University in 1979 and was

elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In l980, he received a Master of Management degree from North-

western’s Kellogg Graduate School.

Faculty and students from Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business, Baruch’s Small Business Development Center Business (SBDC) Advisors, alumni and volunteers are brought together to support the entrepreneurial endeavors of start-ups and established businesses and the college’s constituents.
