The Entrepreneurial Mindset
In this session, we will examine the origins and evolution of an entrepreneurial mindset: the underlying and often subconscious beliefs and assumptions and other psychological factors that influence entrepreneurial attitudes and behavior. Participants will explore concepts such as locus of control, self-efficacy, intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation, as well as fixed versus growth mindset. In this session, participants will discuss social, environmental, and situational factors that either encourage or inhibit the development of entrepreneurial attitudes, behavior, and skills.
Lunch, 12:00AM – 1:00PM (Working Lunch)
Entrepreneurial Skills for the 21st Century
Entrepreneurial attitudes and skills have become essential for anyone to thrive in today’s rapidly changing and highly complex world. Entrepreneurship is a process of discovery, one that requires participants to take ownership of their ideas. In this session, participants will examine four key learning models that foster ownership and increase engagement while cultivating curiosity and creativity, critical thinking and complex problem solving, collaboration - skills that drive entrepreneurial success.
Using ELI’s Opportunity Discovery Canvas, participants will explore the entrepreneurial process in three distinct phases including finding a problem, identifying a solution, and making connections. Drawing from best practices of design thinking, participants learn how to work in teams to identify and solve problems within highly ambiguous, resource-constrained circumstances.
