The Healthy and Productive Nonprofit: Building employee efficiency and morale to improve organizational capacity Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 9 am – 1 pm Instructor: Rich Rivera, Renew & Redesign Consulting This interactive course is targeted to line staff, supervisors, and leaders of organizations that are seeking to find ways to retain employees, create a healthy organization, reduce burnout, and create a productive workforce. Participants will complete the personal self-care plan and a draft recommendation for organizational self-care. Participants will: Complete an organizational self-care strategy. How do we move beyond the “scarcity mindset” which leads to long working hours with few resources, and instead invest in an organizational strategy of self-care? How do we support productive employees, productive meetings in a sector that is known for burnout? Practice creative and low costs ways to avoid employee burnout and enhance employee engagement. In what ways can we work differently to replenish the energy, commitment, and productivity of employees? Achieve a more focused approach to establishing a culture of engaged employees. Writing for the Web Instructor: Elana Levin, Program Director at New Media Mentors and Director of Trainings at Netroots Nation This program is based on the principle that using new media tactics such as email, social media, and social action technology effectively is key to an organization’s success both on and offline. New Media Mentors’ “learning by doing” model ensures the adoption of new knowledge and skills. In this half-day workshop, we will: • Learn the do’s and don’ts of writing for the web vs other types of writing • Review the differences in writing styles between different social media platforms • Do an interactive social media writing activity • Do a group writing activity centered on website content

Entre Familia is Hispanic Federation's signature series of trainings geared towards providing HF member agencies and grantees professional development opportunities and the latest information about the nonprofit industry's best practices.  Throughout the year, workshops cover topics like media training, event planning, fundraising, financial management, communications, information management, board development and more.

Fundraising in the Digital Space: Building a campaign narrative that increases funding opportunities

Date: Thursday, October 18th, 9 am – 1 pm 

Instructor: Elana Levin, Program Director at New Media Mentors and Director of Trainings at Netroots Nation

This program is based on the principle that using new media tactics such as email, social media, and social action technology effectively is key to an organization’s success both on and offline. New Media Mentors’ “learning by doing” model ensures the adoption of new knowledge and skills.

In this half-day workshop, we will:
• Develop a strategy to ensure that your digital work is aligned with your organization’s goals
• Be accountable to executives and tell the story of your work in a way that resonates with them
• Learn the structure of online fundraising campaigns
• Do a group activity evaluating fundraising emails
• Learn about online fundraising platforms

Audience: Open to all, Development Staff, Digital Media Directors, Program Directors, Organizers, Executive Directors
