Gaudí's Master: Classical Concert
Introducción
⭐️ Gaudí: Art, Devotion, and Sound
This concert pays tribute to the two inseparable facets of Antoni Gaudí: artistic brilliance and Christian devotion. His buildings were conceived as spaces that reveal the divine through light, proportion, and symbolism.
🎼 This program gathers emblematic works by Romantic-era composers from Gaudí’s lifetime, music steeped in lyric line, harmonic richness, and spiritual resonance. Heard together, these pieces sketch the cultural horizon in which Gaudí worked: a Europe where beauty, craft, and faith could still speak a common language.
A well-known episode from 1916 illuminates Gaudí’s ear for the sacred: having passed sixty, he enrolled in courses of Gregorian chant under noted Catalan masters. When asked why, he replied that through the melodies of chant he wished to learn architecture. The remark reveals a creative method seeking form through sound.
Nowhere is this synthesis clearer than in the choral galleries of the Sagrada Família, conceived for a thousand voices encircling the nave up to the crossing at forty-five meters. Gaudí imagined space as an instrument, inviting a sound that surrounds, elevates, and gathers a people into one act of praise. Tonight’s program responds to that vision, letting music and architecture mirror each other in clarity, warmth, and wonder.
