Event description

Description

The Adam Smith Business School (and its International Business and Enterprise research cluster) is pleased to announce its thematic seminar at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow on Monday April 30, 2018. The theme is “Entering the Chinese Market: New Opportunities for Scottish SMEs".

The UK has one of the world's strongest finance sectors, but it lacks access to the huge and rapidly growing Chinese market. After the Brexit vote and Theresa May’s visit to China, British entrepreneurs are keen to generate more opportunities for UK businesses to reach China's enormous domestic market. On the one hand, China offers an overwhelming number of business opportunities for Scottish firms. However, on the other hand, the rapid technological development and unstable nature of Chinese business will bring about new challenges for UK access to the Chinese market.

This seminar will present speakers who have extensive experience in the Sino-UK policy, trade and culture industries and they will share their experiences and discuss new opportunities for Scottish SMEs who wish to enter the Chinese market. Additionally, practical advice will be provided to overcome these challenges when facing cultural differences and new e-commerce platforms in China.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN THE CHINESE MARKET OR ENTREPRENEURSHIP THIS EVENT WILL BE OF INTEREST TO YOU.

This event is sponsored by University of Glasgow and Shenzhen Creative Investment Group (UK) Ltd (SCIG) and Doctorate Association (DA).
