Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 1.0 general Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits by attending either online or in-person. All attorneys must have at least one active pro bono CAP case or take on at least one new CAP case to receive CLE credit. Select a case at www.lacsnprobono.org.

Additional attention is required to ensure the extraordinary needs of youth in foster care who are medically fragile, have mental health diagnoses, or have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are being addressed. During this CLE, CAP’s High-Needs Initiative Workgroup will discuss special considerations attorneys should take when advocating for such high-needs youth. Such considerations include eligibility for Social Security Disability and/or services from Desert Regional Center (DRC), the availability of specialized supportive services and placements, as well as appropriate assessments and diagnoses. Attendees will leave with practical tips and a checklist to help better advocate for high-needs children and youth.

This program will be available in-person to a limited number of people at Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and will be available online via RingCentral as well. Pro bono attorneys can earn Starbucks gift cards for referring other attorneys to this CLE.

For information about other upcoming CLEs offered by Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, please visit www.lacsn.org/cle.
