Ensemble Playing: Jazz Intermediate

About this Event

This workshop is designed for musicians with some experience in playing jazz, but would like to expand their knowledge and develop their ensemble and improvisation skills. The course will consolidate the fundamental building blocks of style, improvisation, interaction, rhythm and harmony; leading to progressive approaches to improvisation with more challenging compositions.

Kat Browning has earned degrees at the Royal Northern College of Music as well as Leeds College of Music. She is a single reeds player (clarinet, bass clarinet, alto and baritone saxophones), and the 2015 Award winner for bass clarinet at the Sickle Foundation of North Wales. Kat is a familiar face in the Manchester jazz scene, playing regular gigs and jams at Matt and Phreds, The Hilary Step, The Thirsty Scholar, and others.

Tutor: Kat Browning // Duration: 6 one-hour sessions // Begins: Thursday, 12th September // Time: 6.45-7.45pm // Location: Z-Arts, Music Room, Hulme // Price: £99
