Event description

Description

Progress reports and daily session notes are a time-consuming requirement for all providers working in early intervention. Much of the documentation submitted to TR does not accurately highlight the quality of the intervention being provided. Elements often missing from notes include the clinical reasoning behind treatment interventions and activity selection and the relationship of these treatment decisions to the attainment of IFSP goals. This session will help the provider working with an EI caseload improve their documentation while promoting efficiency in their preparation.

This three-hour training session is designed to improve skills for therapists in their progress report and session note documentation. A discussion will include challenges inherent in documenting progress with an early intervention population and demonstration of skills needed to create a report that reflects solid clinical decisions and demonstrates progress toward reaching IFSP goals. It is not how much you write, it is the quality of what you write that counts. At the completion of this session, participants will be able to produce high-quality reports with less time and effort.

This is a hands-on seminar during which participants will review examples of notes as well as write a discipline-specific session note based upon a video demonstration of treatment. How the exercise of writing session notes translates to progress notes will be elucidated.

Since our providers always have so many questions about policies and procedures, billing or navigating our new documentation software, Seanan Carpino, EI Director at Therapeutic Resources will lead a question and answer session to provide clarification and explanation, as well as to provide additional training on our new electronic documentation system within Provider Soft.

Open to: Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Special Educators, Social Workers, and COTAs

By the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
-Identify the content needed for inclusion in an early intervention progress and session note.
-Write meaningful notes that demonstrate progress toward meeting IFSP goals
-Create clear descriptions of treatment sessions that capture the rationale behind activity/intervention selection and its connection to reaching the IFSP goals.
-Learn how to navigate Provider Soft.
-Learn how to generate electronic session notes.
