The Cork City Centre Forum, in conjunction with the School of Business, CIT are hosting a seminar entitled ‘Enhancing the Customer Experience through Quality Service in Cork City', on Tuesday 24th October 2017 at The Metropole Hotel Cork.


*ATTENDANCE IS FREE BUT REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL AS PLACES ARE LIMITED*

We welcome Sandra Mathew-Marsh, from Visit Kent in the UK to join us for the event to share with us her experience as the destination strategist for Visit Kent. In particular she will focus on the following;

  • Service delivery in a City

  • How to create and communicate the right service experience

  • How do all stakeholders collaborate and work best as a team for the City (How do we all work together, retail providers, other service providers and tourism services)

  • What can go wrong and what are lessons that can be learned?

  • How can we measure success?

  • Steps for the future, especially for us here in Cork city centre

  • Plans on how to engage with our staff to bring them on board to a city-wide customer service message

SANDRA MATTHEWS-MARSH MBE, FTS

Sandra has worked in the tourism industry for over 25 years holding senior non-executive and executive Director roles in the public and private sector.

She has led one of the UK’s leading DMOs, Visit Kent, as CEO for the last 13 years. Sandra is also CEO of Go to Places, an organisation created by the company, to deliver services to partners outside, and in partnership with Kent, including setting up the the new Destination Management Organisation Visit Hertfordshire, the Big Weekend and providing research services.

From 1999-2004 she was a Director at one of Britain’s best loved and successful attractions Leeds Castle and has also worked in local government and at the South East Tourist Board.

Sandra has overseen many projects leading to awards for websites, marketing campaigns and creative programmes. Sandra and her team have secured significant European funding over the last decade in order to help fund the work of Visit Kent and support the county's visitor economy, which has grown by 50% over 10 years. More recently she has led a number of multi-destination projects leading to significant funding from the Discover England Fund.

In 2012 Sandra was inducted into the Top 100 Club for the most influential women in the tourism and hospitality industry. She is immediate past Chairman of the Tourism Society, a Trustee of the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, an Ambassador for the Family Holiday Association and sits on a number of national panels and steering groups and regularly speaks at national conferences and events.

She was invested with the MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2014 in recognition of her services to Tourism and in 2017 admitted as an Honorary Doctor to Canterbury Christ Church University for services to tourism Nationally and in Kent.

Married with three grown-up children and two grandchildren, Sandra cites as her interests as people and places, nature, heritage and culture, walking by the sea, dancing, singing, the theatre and live music, gardens, jam and chutney making. She and her husband have recently bought a motorhome and become a grand parents so new interests are emerging daily!
