About this Event

Enhancing Programmes through Student-Staff Partnership: Why, How and What to Pay Attention to

This session will feature a keynote from Dr Jenny Marie of the University of Greenwich

Student-staff partnership can aid the work of programme leaders in a number of ways: helping them to build a learning community of staff and students, supporting the interpretation of data from the National Student Survey about their programme and giving agency back to programme leaders, teachers and students. This session will provide examples of how this can be done and explore some of the key considerations and challenges, such as ensuring the practice is inclusive and overcoming the challenges of time, role uncertainty, vulnerability and resistance to partnership.

Biography: Jenny is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Greenwich. She has a long interest in student-staff partnership, gaining a National Teaching Fellowship in 2018 in recognition of her leadership in this area. While at UCL where she led their student-partnership schemes, UCL ChangeMakers and Student Reviewers, which supported students to work in partnership with staff on quality enhancement projects and different aspects of quality assurance. While at Greenwich she has worked closely with the Students Union on the development of the institution’s No Detriment policy and a Curriculum Framework; currently leading the strand of work on embedding student partnership into the curriculum.
