About this event

Comprehensive workshop for those who support the elderly clients face-to-face. The modules cover far more than just defining mental health, we explore how to create social goals and plan pleasant events.

Ideal for care coordinators, leisure and lifestyle personnel, chaplains, allied health professionals and RNs. Suitable for both residential and home care settings.

Endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing (ACN), Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA) and the New Zealand Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapy (NZSDRT).

This popular workshop is available online through self-paced learning. In 2021 we are excited to offer it in person in Sydney, NSW.

About the presenter:

Dr. Julie Bajic Smith is a registered psychologist who has worked in aged care for over a decade both as a clinician and a researcher. Her doctorate research examined wellbeing in home care workers and her postdoctoral research focused on supported decision-making in dementia. She has significant experience in assessment and the application of psychological treatments to older adults and recently published a book on enhancing emotional wellbeing in residential aged care environments. Juli has developed several preventative psychological group programs for older adults entering residential care which won Positive Living in Aged Care Awards. Julie is currently supervising mental health clinicians across several residential aged care facilities and delivers education and training to the aged care workforce.

Standard Registration $459; Members of ACWA, ACN, DTA $389

Refunds Policy:

Full refund offered until 30 June 2021. From 1 July 2021 until 30 August 2021 partial refund will be offered $ 210 for standard registration and $140 for ACWA/ACN/DTA members with access to the online version of the program made available. No refunds will be issued from 1 September until 13 September 2021.
