Actions and Detail Panel
Sat, February 25, 2017, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM PST
Note: Registration is sold out. However, we have reserved several slots for same-day registration.
Who: Our event is focused on showing and demonstrating - not just telling - why we love optics and photonics to middle and high school students (5th - 12th grade). To name a few, activities on virtual reality, lasers, robotics, and cell-phone microscopes are planned. In addition to USC researchers and students, members of the engineering community from around Los Angeles are joining us and bringing a piece of the office with them. At the end of the day, students will leave with a "goodie-bag" of items that they have made.
Please note that registration and attendance is free.
All donations are voluntary. They will either be used to support the cost of this event, or offset the costs of future events.
When: The event will go from 9:00am - 5pm on February 25th. However, given the hands-on nature of many of the activities, we are limiting the number of students who can start at any given time. Therefore, we are asking for students (or their parents) to register in advance for specific time slots. Based on the number of activities planned, we anticipate that it will take a student approximately 2.5-3.5hours to complete everything. However, students can stay longer. Therefore, the last registration slot is 2:20pm. We will have a few additional slots for same-day registration.
Where: The event is occuring at the University of Southern California, in the Epstein Family Plaza (also called the Engineering Quad). The closest parking structure is Parking Structure A (PSA). Links for: transportation directions and a campus map.
Please note that only students participating in the events need to register. Parents or adult chaperones do not need to register.
