Event description

Description

Australian adults spend an average 88 minutes a day playing video or mobile games. For many it will be casual, fun-based, gaming but with a growing number of organisations and governments tapping into gamified content, what does the future hold for businesses not delivering engaging material?

In this Rowland and QUT co-hosted event, attendees will hear from Rowland's digital and data strategist Tom Murphy and QUT marketing professor Rebekah Russell-Bennett.

Tom was a senior figure at Brisbane games developer Halfbrick Studios - the creators of global games phenomenon Fruit Ninja. Rebekah leads national and international research projects in social marketing, including Reduce Your Juice using mobile games, SMS, and social media to help low-income households save money on energy bills.

Tom and Rebekah will be joined by Carlie Green-Medina, a senior marketing executive and digital strategist, and Robert Mitchell, a PhD candidate at QUT investigating impact of gamification on both behaviour and motivation in health and fitness settings.

The panel will consider the implications and requirements for developing game-based corporate material, from simple theories through to full game development.
