Engaging Our Communities in Census 2020

Presenters:

Gabe Powell, Partnership Specialist, U. S. Census Bureau

Tia Zanghi, Partnership Specialist, U.S. Census Bureau

It is crucial that advocates for children and families help our families understand the importance and urgency to report all individuals within their home, no matter their age, in the 2020 Census. U.S. Census data will be used to appropriate federal funding to state and local governments in Tennessee for the next decade. This federal funding is used to allocate billions of dollars for many of the services to families and children within our state. The 2010 Census missed more than 10 percent of all children under age 5. Come learn and help develop a plan to ensure our children and families are counted and receive the federal funding for needed services.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn the importance, safety/confidentiality and ease of using the 2020 Census

2. Learn an overview of partnership.
