This course is geared toward any mental health practitioners or medical agencies seeking to gain greater competencies with creating, maintaining and practicing skills to become a more equitable and inclusive provider. This training offers didactic information about intersectionality and the racial healing framework postulated by Anneliese Singh, PhD, LPC as well as the Radical Healing Framework.

3 CEs to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, LCATS , NYS Licensed Psychologists and NYS Licensed Psychoanalysts provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will learn how to engage in cross-cultural dialogue without becoming defensive, guilty, or ashamed.

2. Participants will learn about the Racial Healing & Radical Healing Framework and identify their own intersectional identities.

In accordance with the NY State Department of Education guidelines, in order to receive continuing education contact hours, a participant needs to be present for the duration of the workshop/training. Therefore, participants who arrive late or leave the event early will not be granted a certificate of completion.

Nyx Melody (Nicholas Moran), LMHC (they/them/theirs & fae/faer/faers) is a queer, panromantic, non-binary, trans femme New York State licensed mental health counselor, clinical supervisor, educator and consultant on anti-oppression, mental health, gender/sexuality, and LGBTQIA+ issues.

Nyx completed a dual Master’s degree: Master’s of the Arts in Psychological Counseling and a Master’s of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, where they took extensive course work and engaged in research initiatives surrounding queer and gender-expansive microaggressions/mental health concerns.

Nyx works as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University teaching mental health counseling graduate students and is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Applied Psychology at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development teaching group dynamics, cross-cultural psychology, and lab for individual counseling skills to graduate students in mental health counseling.

As a supervisor, Nyx aims to assist supervisees and colleagues with developing culturally responsive approaches to therapy. Nyx has been a lifelong advocate and accomplice for dismantling oppressive systems, through which they are actively engaged in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives for two organizations: Montefiore Medical Center and Point Park University.
