Description

Engaging Families from Diverse Cultures

Building Confidence through Collaboration

Engagement is about creating comfort regardless of our cultural background. Yet so often we find ourselves feeling uncomfortable entering into conversations with parents who come from life experiences different from our own. This Friday CAFE will give us the opportunity to explore how we can identify and overcome our hesitancies and best practice strategies for crafting comfortable, collaborative conversations with all families.

Conversation Catalyst: Lauri DiGalbo, Educator and Disability Consultant
Date: March 6, 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Location: Wadsworth Mansion, 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown
Directions and Parking: Here

Please note: The session will be photographed and videotaped for posting online.

What: Friday CAFE is a morning discussion and networking series for people like you who work at the intersection of families and learning. Our monthly gatherings feature a short talk, fresh coffee and thought-provoking conversation.

Who: Our network members go by many different titles. Some work in schools, some in communities. Are you a parent liaison, partnership coordinator, home-school facilitator, family resource specialist, parent center director or parent leader? Then this network is for you.

Remember to set your alarm and we’ll see you in the morning!

Questions? For more information contact Judy Carson at judy.carson@ct.gov or 860-807-2122.

Sponsored by a collaboration of CSDE, CREC, SERC/PIRC and our Advisory Group.
