This workshop covers how to improve the energy efficiency of your home to increase comfort, save money and reduce environmental impacts.
We will discuss things you can do yourself to save energy, how to obtain rebates and incentives that can help you cover the costs, and how to hire local professionals to support you on bigger jobs. The workshop includes an introduction to solar energy and how to pay for it.
This workshop is geared toward existing homes with the goal of making energy efficiency accessible for everyone, including those on a limited budget.

The workshop is hosted by Blue Horizons Project and taught by Green Built Alliance Executive Director Sam Ruark-Eastes.
Instructor bio:
Sam Ruark-Eastes has been working in the field of sustainability for local governments, nonprofits, and small businesses since 1998. He has worked as a Sustainability Planner for Marin County, CA, where he developed and implemented its green building program; served as Educational Programming Director for Seven-Star Events, where he worked with a team to organize and manage large national sustainability events; and managed commercial and municipal energy-efficiency projects in Sonoma County CA. In November 2015, he was hired as Executive Director of Green Built Alliance. Sam has degree in sociology and communications from the College of Charleston, and is a LEED AP, NARI Certified Green Building professional and Certified Permaculture designer.
