About the organizer
Energy Convertors (EC) works to develop the authentic voices of Oakland youth, helping students take the negative energy they may be experiencing in school, personal life and community, and convert it into powerful content that adds value to their lives and our communities.
The EC fellowship supports high school students across Oakland who are marginalized by economic status, racial stereotyping, and/or gender.
EC supports these students to develop and share their voices in written and multimedia editorial, building students’ agency and the navigation skills they need to thrive while adding a critical but missing voice to the public discourse on education reform. We deeply believe that the oppressed must lead the efforts to break that oppression, and we are equipping our fellows with the skills and mindset to do so.
