Cycling and Endurance Medicine 2015 & 2016 will be in expanded this year with the inclusion of Running. Developed by Dr. Ellen Smith, this ON-LINE conference will explore the medical concerns facing the athlete who participates in endurance sports, with emphasis on cycling and running. Lectures include:
Bipedalism and the Evolution of Upright Gait 1 hr

Bonus lecture: Sidelines Medical Management 2.5 hrs
Lectures have an audio presented by Dr Smith version and a slide set version. The mix A version has a full explanation of the lecture. Then view the mix Q version and take the quizzes. The total time on the two versions is cumulative for your understanding. Once the sets are completed, notify Dr Smith for a review of your quiz scores and awarding of continuing educational credit. Lectures are held in icloud and can be downloaded to a stationary or mobile device. All downloads are reported to Dr Smith and only those paid, registered students will receive credit. Note: Refunds cannot be processed once course links are sent.
Athletic Trainers: Ellen L. Smith, MD is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for BOC Certified Athletic Trainers. This program has been approved for a maximum of 20 hours of Category A continuing education. Ellen L. Smith, MD FACEP
Dr Ellen Smith is the founder and developer of the Wilderness Medicine Field Course which has trained over 700 medical providers in Wilderness Medicine. Held in the warm summer months the course trains medical providers in hands on Wilderness medicine in the beautiful parks surrounding Montgomery County, MD. Dr Ellen Smith is the System-wide Director of Sports Medicine for Emergency Medicine Associates, the premier metro area medical system provider of emergency care; and the Founder and Co-Director of MedStar Montgomery Sports Medicine. Dr. Smith has been a consultant for the FTC and National STudy group on youth sports medicine. Dr. Smith will be featured in an upcoming TV show, Maxed Out- The limits of Human endurance. Her recent articles include topics of Lyme Disease, and Surveillance Protocols for Youth Sports Injury. She teaches frequently and her Wilderness Medicine Field Course is adapted as course elective for the medical students at the Medical College of Virginia where she is an associate professor in surgery. While there is no substitute for a hands on education, these on-line educational seminars can be done from the convenience of your own device during an off season period.
