Event description

Description

Audience: K-8 Educators

MInecraft has unlimited potential to help kids grow in their ability to create and collaborate. Due to Minecraft’s unique sandbox design, students can engineer working machines, create structures for 3D Printing, or design their own game for others to play. If that’s not enough, students can learn to actually change the code (Javascript) of Minecraft to make it do more things, to create even more! The program is also set up to encourage both digital and in-person collaboration.

During this session, participants will be provided with concrete examples of how Minecraft can be used to encourage students to collaborate with each other to innovate and create new things. Common barriers to using Minecraft in schools will also be discussed and solutions presented.

Audience: K-8 Educators

About the Presenter: Shawn Walk is the founder of Hi-Tech Learning, a Pittsburgh based organization that has run educational Minecraft camps and after-school programs for over 5 years.
