FAQs

Why a caregiver/child date night?
The purpose of the evening is simple; to provide a fun event in which encourages a positive, supportive, and engaging parent-child relationship. A child's sense of value and worth can be cultivated as you spend quality 1:1 time with them. No therapies, doctors appointments, chores or errands to run... simply a magical time of smiles, fun, nature exploring and memory building.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, we will electronically check you and your date in at the event.

What should we wear to the event?
That's entirely up to you and your date! Some couples prefer to step out in style and dress up, while others prefer to be comfy in order to play and be active. Meanwhile, some may dress up in magical costumes (fairy's, woodland creatures, prince/princesse, etc). Your call... just be ready to have fun with us!

Does it have to be a mother/son, daddy/daughter type of date night?
Our evening is not at all limited to Mommy/Son and Daddy/Daughter. We encourage connection between any special caregiver and the child they love. Mommy/Daughter, Daddy/Son, Grandpa/Grandaughter... you name it!

Is this event only for children with special needs?
ECRN+ and Metro Parks partnership provides inclusive programming for children of all abilities! Children with special needs are welcome along with their friends, neighbors, siblings, and the community-at-large.

Can I bring more than one of my children as my 'date'?
Sure!

Can you tell me more about ECRN+/Metro Parks partnership?
Through our social and recreational programs, we aim to inspire personal family growth and community integration. Children with disabilities can play alongside their peers, participate in positive physical activity and experience the sensory joys of nature. Families discover at their own comfort level while overcoming challenges in a safe, fun, and welcoming environment. We aim to foster caring and genuine friendships among families, regardless of ability, while promoting the tremendous value of family to family networking and support. The very core of our programming serves as a hopeful seed of a more inclusive society, in which diversity is welcome and accepted, and a love for nature flourishes.
