Please join us in learning about how to Live Heart-Smart with James Steinhebel, a health coach from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

What: Living Heart-Smart is an important part of heart disease prevention, the leading cause of death for both men and women. According to the Center for Disease Control, about 630,000 Americans die from heart disease each year; the equivalent of 1 in every 4 deaths. Some of the key risk factors for heart disease include: high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol, and smoking. Certain medical conditions and lifestyle choices can put people at a higher risk for heart disease. For example:

  • Diabetes
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Poor diet
  • Physical inactivity
  • Excessive alcohol use
