About this Event
This 4-session course is open to Loyola social work students (BSW & MSW), other Loyola students, and Loyola alumni. Empowerment self-defense is a model of self-defense that equips participants with strategies to reduce and prevent violence when possible, and defend themselves if necessary. Using the framework of Body * Voice * Mind, Amy & Erin from Culture of Safety will lead participants through physical self-defense techniques, exercises designed to increase verbal assertiveness and de-escalation skills, and mindfulness techniques to increase feelings of calm and equanimity.
Cost is $50 for students, $100 for alum. Financial assistance is available upon request.
Class meets at Kasbeer in Corboy Law Center, 25 E Pearson.
Enrolled students will receive an email reminder with logistic details two weeks before first meeting.
