Event description

Description

The Empowered to Connect Conference features practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. It features Trust-Based Relational InterventionⓇ (TBRI) methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, to help bring attachment and connection in families. The content is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care, and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors, and therapists.

The two-day conference will be simulcast live on Friday, April 7th, and Saturday, April 8th, from Bethel Baptist Church in Marquette.

Professionals seeking CE Credits:

The Empowered to Connect Conference is a wonderful opportunity for professionals to receive continuing education credits to use towards their licensing requirements. In previous years, the event has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for 11 hours. The Empowered to Connect Conference and Simulcast has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors for NBCC credit. Show Hope is responsible for all aspects of the program (NBCC Approval Number SP-2801).

One change in 2017 is that the National Association of Social Workers now considers the simulcast a distance learning event. This classification will require professionals desiring credit from NASW to complete a posttest after attending the conference. Additional details will be sent to registered professionals and they must indicate they would like to pursue this option when registering.

Each professional interested in receiving hours and a professional certificate is required to register and pay a separate fee at www.etccontinuingeducation2017.eventbrite.com.

Continuing education is for licensed professionals only and is not the same as adoptive/foster training credits.

Adoptive & Foster Parents: Each adoptive and foster parent will receive a certificate of attendance. The certificates will be handed out at the end of each day, per parent. Attendees are responsible for providing the certificate to their agency, and it is at the agency’s discretion whether or not to count participation toward training credits. To be eligible with your agency to receive training credits, each participant will need to turn in to their agency a copy of each certificate and it is beneficial to also provide them the schedule of the conference. There is no need to sign up for adoptive/foster training credits.
