The Empowered to Connect LIVE simulcast is a two-day training on
Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th from 10*am-6 pm
*This is a LIVE simulcast that will begin promptly at 10 am, kindly arrive before 9:30 am
The Empowered to Connect conference is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors, therapists and others all involved in adoption and foster care ministries or services.
Miriam's Heart has partnered with our friends at Empowered to Connect and Show Hope and we are thrilled to bring this tremendous resource to the Northeast! This is the premier opportunity in our area to participate in this conference in 2017! The Empowered To Connect Conference is a two-day conference for adoptive and foster parents (and regular parents!), ministry leaders, and professionals designed to help them connect with children from hard places in order to help them heal.
This year we are proud to offer LIVE on-site Q&A during the simulcast breaks. These sessions will be facilitated by on-site TBRI Practitioners and Empowered to Connect Parent Trainers.
What is Empowered to Connect?
The Empowered to Connect (ETC) Conference is a two-day conference for pre or post-adoptive or foster families and professionals that is designed to help them better understand how to connect with children from hard places in order to help them heal.
Who Should Attend Empowered to Connect?
ETC is beneficial for adoptive parents, foster parents, potential adoptive/foster parents, and professionals (counselors, therapists, teachers, social workers, ministry leaders, youth nursery leaders and ANYONE working directly with children).
I would like to register a group from my church/organization - do you have group rates?
Yes! Simply register as a 'group' and pay $100 to get 5 members in for one low price! Email us the remaining 4 names/emails so we can send them their tickets! Emails can be sent to email@example.com
I am a professional, am I able to get CE credit by attending the simulcast?
The Empowered to Connect Conference is a wonderful opportunity for professionals to receive continuing education credits to use towards their licensing requirements. In previous years, the event has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for 11 hours. The Empowered to Connect Conference and Simulcast has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors for NBCC credit. Show Hope is responsible for all aspects of the program (NBCC Approval Number SP-2801).
One change in 2017 is that the National Association of Social Workers now considers the simulcast a distance learning event. This classification will require professionals desiring credit from NASW to complete a posttest after attending the conference. Additional details will be sent to registered professionals and they must indicate they would like to pursue this option when registering.
Each professional interested in receiving hours and a professional certificate is required to register and pay a separate fee at www.etccontinuingeducation2017.eventbrite.com.
I am an adoptive/foster parent can I get Continuing Education (CE) credits?
If you are participating with an adoption or foster agency, contact your agency to see if they will offer you CE credit for participating. At your request we will provide each adoptive and foster parent with a certificate of attendance. Attendees are responsible for providing the certificate to their agency, and it is at the agency’s discretion whether or not to count participation toward training credits. To be eligible with your agency to receive training credits, each participant will need to turn in to their agency a copy of each certificate and it is beneficial to also provide them the schedule of the conference. There is no need to sign up for adoptive/foster training credit. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like a certificate of attendance.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Email Allison Highton ETC Parent Trainer at Allison@miriamsheart.org with any questions or concerns!
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

No, all ticket sales are final.
Are you providing lunch?
Yes, we are providing lunch on both Friday and Saturday. This lunch is included in the cost of your registration. Snacks and coffee will also be provided throughout the breaks.
What should I bring?
Dress comfortable and bring something to take notes with.
