Event Details

fTopic: “Volunteer Boards:  What you should know before you volunteer “

Dr. Annette S. Freund is the Owner and Managing Director of Freund Associates Technical Communication in Mahwah, NJ.  She holds a doctorate in English from SUNY Albany, was a tenured Associate Professor at SUNY Rockland, and has over 20 years of experience in corporate training, technical writing, and marketing.  She has combined her teaching and writing skills as a volunteer on many boards―in the private and public sector, for adults and youth. Her forthcoming book is entitled, A Little Handbook for Volunteers: Lessons I Learned from Sister Gwendolyn.

Dr. Freund’s presentation and her forthcoming book are based on over 30 years of experience serving on volunteer boards. Through a series of cases, stories, and anecdotes, she will share the most important lessons she has learned from volunteers and from her beloved mentor, Sister Gwendolyn Pattock, OSB.  Dr. Freund will provide practical suggestions, concrete practices, and real problem-solving strategies.  Anyone considering volunteering for a board or currently serving on one would benefit from Dr. Freund’s experience, sense of humor, and advice.

We look forward to your participation!
