Event description

Description

In 2014, California voters approved Proposition 47 which changed the classification of many non-violent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors. This allowed many Californians with criminal records to gain a fresh start. But there are still many formerly incarcerated residents of the Bay Area -- records expunged or no -- who are struggling to find stable housing and employment despite the region’s fast-growing economy.

We’ll talk with formerly incarcerated people, advocates, and public officials about challenges the formerly incarcerated face, policy ideas that would make it easier for them to gain a foothold, and opportunities offered by the 21st-century economy that can help ease re-entry.

Food and drink will be served.
