In this time of change, division and fear, what do you want to create with others?
Come explore how to be part of creating a community as a place of trust, empathy and understanding. One of the most basic human needs is to feel understood, and people will not listen to you until they know you have listened to them.
In this experiential workshop we will explore empathic listening tools which support clarity, understanding and trust. Whether your intention is to work with others towards a similar a goal, support friends when they feel challenged, or even create understanding with those who think and live differently from you - these tools can be applied to any relationship.
Everyone naturally seeks to be understood especially when there is emotion present. When we truly listen to someone, they get the rare opportunity to reflect on themselves and connect to their own inner wisdom and healing. When we truly listen to someone, they can feel relief at feeling understood and can become more available for listening to us.
We will explore:
- How to hold space to allow people in your life to feel cared for and understood
- How to listen to others having opposing views
- How to diffuse hostility
- Roadblocks to authentic communication
- How to connect to your capacity for empathy and listening
- How deep authentic listening with warmth, compassion and empathy can create deeper understanding and peace for both people in the conversation
- How practicing empathy is at the root of social justice
Limit = 25 people.
We would like to continue bringing these workshops to the community and request donations on a sliding scale: $25-$35
We were inspired to offer this to our community so we can create space for each other to express our pain, fear and anxiety, and to generate more civil exchange between opposing views.
