Event Details

This one day training  (choose 15 or 16 Jan 2018) is targeted at schools and school staff supporting vulnerable pupils.

"Vulnerable" means those that are at higher risk of developing mental health concerns in later years.  This might mean special educational needs, children in care or risk if exclusion from school, pupils with a parent with mental illness or substance misuse, children with a trauma or abuse history, child with physical disability or young carer and more...

The day will:

  • Consider what makes children and young people vulnerable
  • Explain emotion coaching (EC)
  • Provide an overview of neurodevelopment in children
  • Explain emotion coaching and link to building resilience
  • Demonstrate "Flipping the lid"
  • Explain the 5 steps of emotion coaching
  • Involve activities using emotion coaching
  • Provide the presentation materials for your workshop

Refreshments (tea/coffee) will be provided, please bring your own lunch (high street shops close by).  Free parking available at the centre and Rugeley Town train station is close by.

The venue is a large sports hall and people can find it cold - bring layers. You do NOT need to print your Eventbrite ticket.

Expectation -

  1. Complete the training agreement that will ask when your workshop will be and how many parents may attend and commitment to attend the follow up focus group and complete evaluation

Service Level Evaluation here:

  1. Attend ONE of the available dates for training in emotion coaching (15 or 16 Jan 2018) at Rugeley Commmunity Centre
  2. Your school will then facilitaite a workshop for parents and or school staff in emotion coaching.  The workshop needs at least 10 attendees. This might be run as a twilight session, coffee morning, evening date - any way you as a school believe parents will attend/engage.
  3. Complete evaluation
  4. Attend follow up focus group with some attendees from your workshop

There will be an evaluation of the difference this approach might have made to pupils in your school after this approach is introduced.

Terms and Conditions

Materials will be available at the training.  Please book early to avoid disappointment

We have a limited fund to cover the cost of this training and workshops.  Although it's free to attend, there is a cost if you do not show up.   As this is a funded course each school will be required to complete a brief evaluation on the delivery of the workshop.

A charge of £250 will be made for non-attendence or cancellation less than 5 working days ahead of the event.
