UMass Dartmouth’s Graduate Student Senate will be hosting the second annual EMIRGE Conference, a statewide Massachusetts graduate studies conference. The 2017 conference focuses on Innovation, Impact, and Inclusion. Massachusetts is the birthplace of public education and continues to lead the country with innovation and transformative thinking. Globalization has ushered in a need for a plurality of knowledges and languages. This calls for strengthening the connections between the humanities and the sciences to lead Massachusetts into the 21st century as a hub for research and action to help improve our communities and build relationships both locally and globally. Within this process is a constant need to create spaces for the sharing of knowledges, experiences, and visions, so that Massachusetts can continue to improve the commonwealth in advocating for social justice. This conference will empower the university community by creating a venue for researchers across the disciplines to collaborate, engaging students with the research of faculty, peers, and communities and finally by building relationships with the community and political leaders for social change.
