About this event
The goal of this EMI Dinner Series: Stories of Resilience is to center the voices of formerly incarcerated individuals and uplift their stories.
On April 23rd starting at 6PM , we will be honoring Hassan Bennet of West Philadelphia who spent 4,606 days in prison for a homicide and related crimes that he did not commit. Failed by an antiquated criminal justice system, Bennett took his case into his own hands, studied the law, filed his own legal briefs, and ultimately represented him in two trails. On May 6, 2019, a jury found him innocent after just 81 minutes of deliberation.
Funds raised from this dinner will go to supporting Hassan and his organizer work and Da LitiGator and its UNCLE Program.
