The interactive side event will focus on the importance of government policy and support in the development of thriving innovation ecosystems and in particular the value add government programs can provide to key stakeholders including startups, enablers (hubs, incubators, accelerators), and investors. The session is a moderated discussion with experienced policymakers, who will share concrete examples from Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Kenya, and Tanzania. Ample time will also be reserved for interaction with the audience.
The event will be most beneficial for stakeholders who are interested in the development of innovation policy and ecosystems, including delegates of different ministries, government agencies, and international development organizations. Staff of tech hubs and entrepreneurs are also invited to join to share their experiences.
Speakers include Mr. Md Abdul Bari (Bangladesh ICT Division), Mr. Julius Korir (Kenya Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives), Mr. Marlon Marie (OESC Commission), Mr. Hassan Mshinda (Commission of Science and Technology, Tanzania), and the session is moderated by Mr. Toni Eliasz from the World Bank Group's Innovation and Entrepreneurship unit.
