Congratulations! You’ve been promoted to supervisor…now what? Any experienced supervisor/leader will tell you that it takes years to learn the art of leadership and supervision. But first, you need the skills to survive? This acclaimed workshop has been presented to emergency services providers across the country and at many national conferences such as EMS Today and EMS World. This is a powerful-interactive workshop intended to ease the sometimes painful transition to leadership. This course will be taught by Jon Politis, MPA, NRP

Jon Politis is an engaging educator and proven leader who has presented at many state and national conferences across the US and Canada. He has extensive experience in both Fire/EMS as well as leading volunteer and combination organizations. His unique perspective comes from serving in leadership positions at national, state, regional and locallevels. Starting in emergency services in 1971, he has served in many capacities: firefighter, ski patroller, Paramedic, Paramedic Program Coordinator, State EMS Training Coordinator and EMS Chief. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Registry of EMTs, Committee on Accreditation for the EMS Professions, been co-investigator of original research and authored numerous articles and texts. He holds a BA degree from Castleton University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Marist College, Pougkeepsie, NY He served as the Chief of the Town of Colonie EMS Department from 1989 to 2010 when he retired. During his tenure as Chief, he lead Colonie EMS to two national awards, two regional awards and the New York State EMS service of the year for 2010.

In retirement Jon continues to practice as paramedic, volunteer firefighter and ski patroller. He is passionate about the outdoors and is an avid mountaineer and skier. During the summer months he works as a Seasonal Ranger in Grand Teton National Park and lives near Albany, NY.
