Course: Pennsylvania Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Responder Course

Description: The primary focus of the Emergency Medical Responder is to initiate immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS response and to assist higher level personnel at the scene and during transport.

Emergency Medical Responders function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.

Course Length: Approximately 60 hours


  • Course Textbook / Workbook / Online Resources per participant

  • DOT Hazardous Awareness / Safety Training

  • National Incident Management System – Course 100 & 700

  • Course Instruction: All instructor fees are included

  • AHA BLS Training / Certification

  • Pearson VUE Testing Center Voucher (1 per student, 1 test per student)

  • NREMT Practical Testing Administrative Processing and Fees

Date(s): May 8, 2018 - June 30, 2018

Monday and Wednesday evenings - 7:00PM - 10:00PM

Saturdays: 3 - May 12th, June 9th, June 30th - 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Pricing: $500.00 per participant (Additional $5.99 online registration fee)

Cancellation Policy: 50% refund will be issued if a candidate withdraws from course less than two weeks before start date. No refund will be issued once the first date of the class begins

Registration: Course registration is initially completed by registering / paying via this website. Once payment is received, you will be contacted to request additional information.

Course Completion: Students must successfully pass the written and practical assessments in the course. In addition, students MUST be able to perform physical requirements as outlined in the functional job description of an Emergency Medical Responder. At the completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the NREMT Practical and Written (Computer) assessment for EMR certification.
