Topic:

Emergency Management Response to the 2017 California Wildfires

Guest Speaker:

Mr. Eric Baumgardner,

Emergency Management Coordinator of Burbank Fire Department, and

Emergency Manager of City of Burbank

When disaster strikes, the time for preparation just ended.

The first hour after a disaster strike is the most critical for survival.

It is a matter of “when” not “if”. Natural disasters such as fire, flood, earthquake, tsunami, storm. Identify the hazards that have happened or could happen in your area and plan for the unique actions for each. What to do when disaster strikes when you least expect it.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS. SURVIVAL PREPAREDNESS.

This is a live savings discussion.

Our goal is to SAVE LIVES.

It is about your safety. It is about how we can acquire knowledge, skills how to you can reduce disaster risks and impacts.

Learn what to do BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER the disaster.

PREPARE, SURVIVE, and RECOVER.

We understand it is impossible to be at 100% "prepared", however to be more prepared can save your lives and loved ones.

Most disasters are inevitable, and unavoidable.

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF DISASTERS. THERE ARE WEATHER-RELATED, NATURAL DISASTERS AND MAN-MADE. 9 OUT OF 10 AMERICANS LIVE IN SIGNIFICANT RISK OF DISASTERS SUCH AS FIRE, FLOOD, EARTHQUAKE TSUNAMI, LANDSLIDE, HURRICANE, TORNADO, SNOW STORM,  … HERE IN CALIFORNIA, WE NEED TO CONSIDER 2 MAJOR NATURAL DISASTERS: FIRE AND EARTHQUAKE!

Just like any other natural disasters, wildfires, brushfires, and earthquakes can be costly, meaning to property damages, business recovery, and unfortunate losses of lives.

Learn more from certified CERT members how to be your own 1st responder.
