Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) 1 Day Course

Description
Who should attend: People who want to receive training in emergency first aid. It isespecially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments e.g. offices.
The day will cover:

Roles and responsibilities of a first aider, including dealing with incidents in a safe manner

Dealing with a breathing but unresponsive casualty

Dealing with a casualty who is having a seizure
-
Recognise cardiac arrest and perform CPR including the use of an AED
-
Administer first aid to a casualty with an airway obstruction
-
Administer first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.

Recognise and treat a casualty in shock
-
How to treat a casualty with minor injuries. (Burns cuts, bruises and splinters)
Assessment: Multiple choice questions, and continuous observation by the trainer
Qualification: Successful candidates will receive EFAW certification for which is valid for three years. The qualification complies with current HSE Legislation
Physical ability: Candidates must confirm that they are fit and well enough to partake in the physical elements
ID: Photographic ID must be shown to the trainer on the first day of the course
Dress Code: Suitable clothing for practical activities which involves lying on the floor
