Purpose: The conference will provide the most current information related to emergency medicine and evidence-based practice recommendations to improve patient outcomes for healthcare professionals.

Objectives:At the end of this program, the participants should be able to:

  • Describe common injuries related to pediatric abuse
  • Define the role of the reporter in child abuse
  • Describe the medical evaluation of child abuse
  • Recognize and identify cardiac emergencies, signs, symptoms and treatment
  • Discuss current treatment for STEMI patients
  • Define hypotensive resuscitation
  • Discuss the indications for hypotensive resuscitation
  • Discuss the complications that are associated with hypotensive resuscitation
  • Define massive transfusions
  • Discuss the indications for massive transfusions
  • Identify appropriate applications of massive transfusion protocol
  • Review proper techniques required for RSI, including pre, intra-, and post-intubation care
  • Identify actions required for the difficult airway
  • State information specific to the airways in the pediatric population
  • Describe immediate care of a patient presenting with burn injury
  • Explain differences in superficial, partial thickness and full thickness burns
  • List initial assessments and transport for a patient with burn injuries
