Event description

Description

Did you know, victims are most likely to disclose abuse to a trusted faculty member or friend?

The Emerge workshop will give you the tools to effectively respond to disclosures and to be able to refer students to resources to help them heal and succeed at Mason. The workshop is modeled after the Safe Zone training.

Emerge is a training preparing members of the Mason community to respond to survivors of sexual and relationship violence and to create a network of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to supporting survivors. Victims are most likely to disclose abuse to a trusted faculty member or friend. Therefore, SSAC provides a 3 hour training that will help you and your organization become more comfortable and skilled when responding to a disclosure. Knowing how to respond effectively can improve healing for the student victims and assists them in connecting with resources and support services.

Currently, Emerge is reccomended to Faculty, Staff and Graduate Assistants working at the University.
